Think of your personal brand as your reputation – how people perceive you based on what they know about you, both online and in person. It’s how you interact, do business, and simply show up in the world.

In today’s digital age, people are doing virtual background checks on you long before they reach out. So, why not take charge of your personal brand and tell your story your way? Here are THREE easy, actionable tips to help you do just that!

Tip #1: Google Yourself

You’ve been searched online, whether you’ve handed out a business card or gone on a first date. Potential clients, partners, and even dates are checking you out online. Have you ever Googled yourself? If not, it’s time! Use an incognito browser to see unbiased results.

What shows up when you search your name? Likely, your social media profiles are at the top. This highlights the importance of a strong social media strategy for a kickass personal brand. Click on the images tab too – do these photos represent how you want to be seen?

Take Action: Clean Up Your Personal Brand

Search your name and see what pops up. Delete inactive social media profiles and remove any content that doesn’t align with your brand. This is all about creating a polished and professional online presence.

Who are you building your personal brand for? Knowing your audience is crucial for creating resonant content. You’re not for everyone, and that’s okay! Find your niche and focus on what you’re great at. Your unique expertise is your secret sauce.

Equally important is knowing yourself. Understanding your own strengths and values helps you be authentic and attract your ideal clients.

List your skills and the types of people who could benefit from your knowledge. This clarity will help you create targeted content that resonates with the right audience.

Pick three words that you want your audience to feel when they interact with your brand. Write them down and put them somewhere you’ll see every day. Live and breathe these values – they are the heartbeat of your personal brand.

Tip #4: Create Amazing Content

Content is the fuel for your personal brand. To become the go-to person in your industry, consistently create valuable content that addresses your audience’s needs. Give away your best advice for free – it builds trust and positions you as an expert.

Identify common questions from your clients or audience. Create content around these topics. Use tools like Planoly or Later to plan a month’s worth of content. This not only saves time but ensures consistency.
